LD & ADHD Services
Attention Deficit Disorder (AD/HD) Assessments
Provided to children and adults to diagnose attention difficulties. Usually involves 3 to 4 sessions, including interviews, questionnaires and the TOVA continuous performance test. Billed at regular session rates and often covered by insurance.
Review of records & second opinions
I am available to review assessments done by public schools and other providers. This is often a cost effective way to gain a second opinion rather than starting the testing process from the beginning again.
School observations & consultation
I am available to go out to your child's school and offer an objective opinion regarding your child's functioning there, the degree of match or mismatch, possible accommodations or other issues.
I offer counseling to children and adults who have learning disabilities and attention difficulties as well as to the parents of such children. Often this involves a combination of traditional counseling and what is now being called "coaching" in that it involves looking for strategies that help the individual cope with the ongoing challenges of LD and/or AD/HD.
After more than 30 years of doing psychoeducational evaluations, this is no longer a service that I offer.
Consultation is available in my office or at your site. Among the consultation projects that I have taken on over the years are the following:
-Provided professional prospective on setting up an on-line parent guide to accessing LD services
-Guest expert for on-line parent message board on the topic of emotional issues in learning difficulties
-Consultant for TV episode involving a child with ADHD
-Teacher consultations regarding specific students who have LD or ADHD
-Worked with a graduate school department whose faculty members were experiencing friction among themselves
-Consultation and mentoring of other therapists, either ongoing or in regard to specific issues or clients
